KaBERTRAM!!! ...it's all about the music.
Welcome to KaBertram!!! - an explosion of sound, motion, entertainment, and talented people from all around the world, all making music together. And if KaBertram! was a hurricane, then Ray Bertram would be the eye at the center of the storm. Ray, a life-long "compulsive writer," started writing at a very age and he's never stopped. When Ray turned his writing in the direction of lyrics in 2008, things really started hopping. Working together with good friend and partner, musician/song-writer/producer and creative genius John Surbaugh, Ray co-founded BCC Global: The Back Country Connection, which made it possible for him to take his writing and cover the world with it. Ray has now seen his writing produced into songs in the United States (Tennessee, California, Ohio, North Caroline, Georgia), Sweden, The Netherlands, South Africa, England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and beyond. In 2010, Ray and another one of his frequent partners, Swedish singer/musician/song-writer/producer Anders Larson, were signed by the prominent Swedish promotional house, Hit Works, and in the time since numerous of their songs have been placed under contract and aggressively marketed all around the world. And, to date, Ray's writing has been produced into songs covering many genres, including Pop, Euro-Pop, Folk-Rock, Country, Rock-a-billy, Adult Contemporary, Jass/Swwing, Rap, and more. Ray continues to write and to continually direct his creative energies onward and upward, always striving to reach higher and to move in new directions. Story behind the song
This was the very first song that was ever produced around one of my lyrics...special thanks to songwriter/musician/producer John Surbaugh (Ohio, U.S.A.) for doing it, too. At the time I was experimenting with content and structure, seeing what I could do with the shortest lines possible, and I had some fun tossing these lines together. And this production lead to a friendship with John that eventually lead to the concept and formation of the Back Country Connection online creative engine which, in turn, lead to all of the songs that you see on this SoundClick page and more. Thanks for everything, John - you're one of the best of the best. Ray Bertram
Lyrics
A Simple Man Verse 1: I get up Go to work The boss man He’s a jerk I don’t care Spend my day working hard Earn my pay I get paid I’m still broke I ain’t rich That’s no joke Chorus: Left-overs Hand-me downs Old junk that I have found I’m thread bare Full of thrift But fancy free If you get my drift Ain’t got no past Ain’t got no plan Just a simple life I’m a simple man Verse 2: I come home I sit down Drink a beer Look around House as small As can be But I like What I see Happy kids Loving wife A simple man A simple life Chorus: Left-overs Hand-me downs Old junk that We have found We’re thread bare Full of thrift But fancy free If you get my drift Ain’t got no past Ain’t got no plan Just a simple life I’m a simple man Bridge: I ain’t rich I’m no king But I got Everything Chorus: Left-overs Hand-me downs Old junk that We have found We’re thread bare Full of thrift But fancy free If you get my drift Ain’t got no past Ain’t got no plan Just a simple life I’m a simple man “A Simple Man” (c) 2008, by W.
