Lyrics
[4/4, mod. slow talking blues] ANATOLE R.I.P. (2012) --J. Wrabek 1. C F Anatole was a baby vole, lived in the kitchen in a cereal bowl, C G Never traveled much when he was alive; C He wasn't a lot of fun to watch, F Just seemed to eat and sleep a lot, C G C But we gave him a real good funeral when he died. 2. Anatole lived a quiet life, never had no kids or wife, Always did his business while we slept; He had oatmeal, lettuce, and water too, And a couple plastic things to chew-- He was about as happy as a vole in a bowl could get. 3. Time came for him to have a bath--that cereal bowl was smellin' bad-- And we scrubbed him down real good in the sink with a sponge; And we learned an important lesson that day-- Never dry out your vole in a microwave, 'Cause you'll be replacing 'em both by the time you're done. 4. We managed to contain the blast real good, didn't mess up the kitchen or the neighborhood, Though we'll have to replace the microwave we ruined; And the smell, I'm told, is gonna linger on Reminding us long after he's gone That we exploded a vole in that corner of the room. 5. Out back, we dug a great big hole for the microwave and Anatole, And played selections from the Grateful Dead; And said, “Lord, here's the pieces of your vole And we hope you saved his immortal soul 'Cause we sure couldn't find it in all of the mess.” 6. Yes, Anatole was a baby vole, spent most of his life in a cereal bowl, Never traveled much while he was alive, But he didn't live his little life in vain-- He taught us something ‘bout microwaves And we gave him a real good funeral when he died. © 2012 J. This is just a cautionary tale for the children.
