Lyrics
If I Asked You Today G D G If I asked you today would you still marry me? C G D D7 Would you still have my (our) kids or would you rather be free? G D G Would “I’ll love you forever” still mean the same thing? C G D G If I asked you today would you still wear my ring? Refrain Am G Forsaking all others, ‘til death do we part, D C9 D Forever’s a long time but tomorrow’s a start. G D Em Would you still want me with you the rest of your life? C G D C9 If I asked you today would you still be my wife? If I asked you today would you still marry me? Would you still tolerate my peculiarities? Or do my little habits all drive you insane? Does the sun shine enough to dry up the rain? Refrain If I asked you today would you still marry me? Or does our life together seem like slavery To a house, and to kids, and to each other’s ways? Would you still marry me if I asked you today? Refrain If things had been different between you and me, If our hooks had been baited for other fish in the sea, Knowing what you know now, I’m just wondering If I asked you today would you still wear my ring? Refrain Unpublished work © 1991 John R. Whitney
