Singer/ songwriter
Lawrence Bullock is a singer songwriter living in Mendocino, CA I'm often asked who I sound like, what kind of music do I play. Well, I listen to a lot of things. In Ireland they say I sound like Christie Moore, Bob Dylan (which surprises the hell out of me), Van Morrison (again, surprised) and I've even gotten Jim Croce on occasion. But you know, I'm thinking of chucking it all and banging on rocks til I reach a state where the atoms split apart and I realize that life's the first skip of the stone God throws across the Universe pond. I just write what comes into my head. I never think about writing a "hit" tune. I know the formula for writing a "hit" tune, it just never occurs to me to write one. The music biz these days is so corporatized, that what I write seems quaint and out of date. Oh well, I can only write what I write.

Lyrics
You might have caught me somewhere as I gambled in the ruins More than once I played with loaded dice Searching for an angle, pretending to be wounded Looking for the deal and not the asking price And you might recognize me like a priest who sees an angel After thinking that his vows were only lies I am slipping through the shadows, slipping through your fingers Disappearing right before your eyes CHORUS We're alone among the bones of moments passing by Heads full of histories, hearts of pride Mistaking cynicism for second sight Falling, falling towards the light We wander through the desert and we find ourselves forsaken But our thirst is not the only thing we share In this all too real existence when our strength is finally taken Then the unknown comes upon us unawares We can think, but we're not thoughful Intimate--at a distance, calculating, but we cannot do the math Somewhere someone is still waiting, they've been waiting for a lifetime They've been putting breadcrumbs all along the path CHORUS Now you're drifting into sundown, now the animals are stirring Looking for the weak to feed their appetite And you find yourself among them, so unsure of what's occurring Wondering if you're predator or prey tonight And you may wear the hunger like it was cut to suit you But everybody wears a hand-me-down If I see you in the shadows, don't forget I showed you mercy When it was you upon the killing ground CHORUS
