Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Didn't think I was going to make this challenge in time, but an idea occurred to me on the Saturday morning. Whatever possessed me to do it in 11/4 I'll never know...

A merry-go-round of upcoming layers of musical delight with that oriental spicy flavour. Imaginative and organic, i love the way you made the sounds interact in a spiral towards the climax. Ingenious.
You got this song just right, Seth! All is WONDERFUL. The changes in tempo capture the paces of Far East and Mysteries/Romance of the Orient. And your playing of beautifully mixed instruments is exciting. Your Korean impressions are totally felt by the listener. Even uninitated Western Occidents should feel the "Seoul Food" of this delicious and very outstanding song! BRAVO BRAVO AGAIN AND AGAIN. Thanks for the dl, as well.

This truley captures the flavour of the East! love the way the heavy synth bass is intergrated with the trad sounds weaving around it..Excellent in every way!

From the opening gong and interval, through to the finish, this is pure gold Steve. The off beat bass and drums all add up to rhythmic perfection. I know we're not supposed to have favourites, but this one blew me away mate. A very nice addition to the Stuff of Smiv :)

I really had to listen a second time, just to get what is happening here. It starts very Asian and quiet. Around 0:50 I feel there is going to happen something. Tension, change. Like thunder and lightning on the point of bursting. 0:55: Bass is coming in and soon drums are joining. They are coming from the west. The rhythm is becoming special (I read it is 11/4) and you are just jamming around until the end while the atmosphere has become Rock-like. This is World Fusion on it's best.

amazing portrait of a city suspended between two worlds Steve :D I spent a year of my youth (Army) in and around this vibrant city, and this tune definitely works!!

Such a beautiful, gentle intro that expands and builds, adding layer upon layer, to a stupendous climax. You really are a talented musician/songwriter!

The subtle intro draws you in and then the song takes some amazingly cool twists. I'm hearing a lot of sounds, some subtle, some not so, that all add up to a great song. Nice!

I like the way the intro tempts us, then the way it unfolds. Fantastic rhythm, not an easy track to put together, but expertly done. A great East meets West composition.
