Lyrics
I'm glad you like to swim, my friend. You beckon me to try. The problem, simply stated, Is that I'm afraid to die! Monsters lurk beneath those waves. Fish want to bite my paws. Worse yet, you may remember, you allowed me to watch "Jaws"! The water isn't kind to you. It swallows you right up. If it eats all but my master's head, it will consume this pup! It's not that I'm not brave, you see. I'm just striving to be sensible. To drown your own beloved dog would be quite reprehensible! I don't, I won't, I can't get wet. I'm meant to stay ashore. If you want a dog to swim with, talk to a Labrador! You strap me in a PFD so that I won't go under. Just let me be a normal dog and not a fashion blunder. The truth is I get seasick, yeah. Do you really want me nauseous? There is a silver lining here. It's good that I'm so cautious. Keep your hot dogs; stuff your Kongs. I'm not so easily bought. To abandon all survival; that's not so easily taught. I don't complain; I'm not a wimp. You haven't grasped my plea. If you want a dripping water dog, go find one; don't bug me! I don't, I won't, I can't get wet. I'm meant to stay ashore. If you want a dog to swim with, talk to a Labrador! Oh all right, I didn't mean it. In truth, it looks like fun. I won't be getting four paws wet, but I could offer one. Those retrievers seem delighted to splash and swim and play. Woohoo, I got a toe wet. I guess I'm on my way. I could learn to love this, or maybe like it just a shred. But you'll have to work real hard to get me past my dread. So let's hear the praise and laughter if you really want me wet. Click and treat and cheer me on. I just might train you yet! I may, I might, I could get wet. It's you that I adore. So if you have some fun with me, I'll someday leave the shore.
