Story behind the song
I was annoyed with a certain financial adviser. Wrote the song very quickly. I suppose it could be a metaphor for any relationship.
Lyrics
verse: Our future is in the details And you're a big picture guy. How many times have you said "sell" When what we should have done is buy? Nothing in life is free And sometimes we pay for nothing. Added penalties and fees Should be worth something. chorus: Too many times we sell when we should buy. We end up selling low and buying high. verse: Layers of half-truths Buried in a contract. And now you're asking me for proof Of what you said at our last contact. More information on request, But none of it is binding. And, after many years, regrets That our friendship is unwinding. chorus verse: It was a golden opportunity, A win-win situation With a payback guarantee, Protection from inflation. We made it through the bad years. Spent all this time together. But I have to say that it appears Things won't be getting better. chorus
