Eclectic microtonal/xenharmonic 21st-century
The time has come to say no to twelve tone equal. Ask Ivor Darreg. He knows. This project is, among other things, an argument for the further exploration of microtonal/xenharmonic tunings by more musicians. If you find this argument compelling or completely repulsive, please let me know. This project is also a response to the recognized need for more examples available on the internet, for the curious. The curious will never hope to get anywhere without trying out their ears.

Story behind the song
An exploration of equal divisions of 2:1 numbered one through thirteen, in that order: a structured improvisation. Performed by the Pennsylvania All-State Jaw Harp Choir (myself, Dan Sedgewick, Lembit Beecher) which are actually sampled warped vintage keyboards. The performance on the actual concert (Rice Electronic Music Labs: Digital Riot) was a disaster because I only had a trigger to advance the tuning to the next one, and I accidentally jumped to 11 and had to endure it for the most beautiful sections of 9 and 10...this recording is a careful do-over. So remember kiddies, if you're going to do a dynamically-microtonal quasi-improvisation, make sure to have a decrement-tuning pedal as well as an increment-tuning pedal.
