In 1997 at age 38 started to sing karaoke in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui State. Since then he really would feel a passion for singing and dreamed for stages and claps. In 2008 friendly relations made him join a Portuguese club in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, where in June 2009 he would sing, as always, some karaoke songs. In this club there is a group of soloist-singers to entertain both club members and Caracas Portuguese community called Estrellas Lusitanas (Lusitanian Stars). Its manager invited Oscar to participate in the Annual Song Festival of the Federation of Portuguese Clubs of Venezuela Feceporven held on July 11, 2009 at another Portuguese Club in Valencia, Carabobo State, with the song El Gorrión (The Sparrow). This way, at his 49, Oscar would debut as singer. He would think his dreams came true, his enthusiasm increased and began his rehearsals every week with the group of soloists. With them Oscar would know the Portuguese music and became fan especially for fados. On November 20, 2009 Oscar received his first standing ovation when he performed in Portuguese language a fado called Canoas Do Tejo (Lisbon River Boats) which had won more than 2,600 views on YouTube as Fado de Lisboa in just the first year of broadcasting. In 1997 at age 38 started to sing karaoke in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui State. Story behind the song
Working in public administration, I traveled around Venezuela and listened on the radio, TV, buses, quemaito’s peddlers, night bars videos and people talking about Vicente Fernandez singing "El Chofer" (The Driver), a song written by Joan Sebastian dedicated to Mexican Cities. So I thought a song so popular in my country should have a version about the cities here in Venezuela, keeping Mexican music to express the cultural ties that unite us in Latin America. This way born the idea for “El Chofer de Aqui” (The Here’s Driver). Then my goal was to mention at least the state capitals and some cities that would rhyme, representing the main idea of singing our culture, narrated by a worker so important and who knows the people such as a driver.
