Story behind the song
R. sent me an mp3 of a guitar ditty that he recorded just goofing around and although I don't think that he intended for it to have lyrics, upon my first listen I penned the lyrics. After I recorded the basic outline of the lyrics I sent it back over to him to sing it in only the way R. can. As usual he sounds just amazing! Not to mention his way with guitars. The lyrics came to me as I was thinking about my mortality and the mortality of my friends and family. Some have departed us and assuredly someday I will depart too. But what keeps me waking up each morning is the opportunity to love them better than I have. Thanks Rich for the opportunity to express it. Post script 7/18/13 I now look back and regret not being honest about this song. I wrote it because Rich's wife, Suzanne, was battling cancer and I, I don't know, just came to a spot where I was not trying to identify or empathize as much as emote how it must feel when you accept fate. Thankfully she is a survivor....Today my other great friend Peter announced that his wife, Coleen has cancer...and again I am in that fog. There must be a reason. I hope to find that reason peacefully
Lyrics
My tears are rain,  They keep on falling,  I wish I knew, that you’d always be with me,  But like (the) rain, it’s just bad weather,  And you can’t promise me better    I love the color,  In your eyes,  Where does that go when somebody dies,  Does it turn into something better,  That lasts forever    Forever,  Forever,  Forever,  Forever  When I was young,  I prayed to the stars that,  I’d never, grow old and lonely,  But you can’t, predict what is coming,  It just arrives and keeps you loving,    Forever,  Forever,  Forever,  Forever….
