Story behind the song
A few years before a genre known as 'punk' hit the scene, the world famous band 'Mr. Grumbold' was playing a song called 'Exercise in Punkoid Nausea'. Yes... we saw that whole punk thing coming. First ever debut 'live' of this song was in 1974 in the Moreton Presbyterian Church Hall... a concert for Bangladesh that raised the grand total of 28 pounds. Not bad when tickets were only 20p. Fun times. Oh... and yes you should take this song seriously. It was, AFTER ALL, prophetic in scope! Badly played overloud music with awful lyrics that mocked the hippy past and hinted at anarchy. If only I could sing in a sneering johnny rotten voice and spit! I could have been a legend in my own coffee break.
