Story behind the song
I wrote this song after I read "where the red fern grows" to my children. they were very touched by the story and it inspired me to compose a song about the book. I played all instruments in this one.
Lyrics
Where the Red Fern Grows
By Quico Reed
Very few people know where the red fern grows
Where old love never dies, and tears flow
But for those who have been truly loved by a friend
They may come to know where the red fern grows
If you decide to start, and say a prayer from the heart
Then your dreams may come true if you truly work hard
For both young and old who are strong and bold
The path that you’re on will go far
May we all learn to cling to our childhood dreams
May we run with our friends through the snow
May the light in our eyes never dim, never die
When we learn where the Red Fern Grows
Be slow to boast or you may meet a ghost
And the truth may be worse than the lie
For rivers twist and wend and surprise you in the end
And forever you will ask yourself why
May we all learn to cling to our childhood dreams
May we run with our friends through the snow
May the light in our eyes never dim, never die
When we learn where the Red Fern Grows
Don’t abandon your desire nor feed your words to the fire
For the world may just find them inspired
May we all learn to cling to our childhood dreams
May we run with our friends through the snow
May the light in our eyes never dim, never die
When we learn where the Red Fern Grows
