Story behind the song
This is the oldest song on the CD. ..going back to about 1990-91. This was originally written as the second part to a three song cycle called "Seasons". I decided to pull it out cause it really is a good song and fit in well with the theme of "I will not stay stuck in my past". Now I should say, that there are alot of songs that are written before their time "a love like ours will never fade away" was wishful thinking at the time. . .I was flat out wrong about that one. I do however, think that the song has significant meaning to my situation here and now. Most of all, the song is about how home is where your TRUE love is. . .and nothing, not lightness or darkness, not the passing of the years and seasons can change that. . .IF it's true love.
Lyrics
The Road I have sung about the passion Of a hundred years gone by I have sung a song of sadness Of a hundred more goodbyes But the road that leads me onward Through the sunset to my soul Leads me back into your arms To reach our loves true goal. And I. . . Have one wish I. . . Have one Road to follow And I Will run with You It seems so many times my father Took this path until his end ‘Til his only destination Laid around the nearest bend But I will not follow in his footsteps With your love I’ve found my home The road will not be lonely now I’ll never be alone. And I. . . Have one wish I. . . Have one Road to follow And I Will run with You These Seasons come and Go And We’ll never part I know Though the coldness of the winter Leaves us like ravens in the snow But I know Our love will never die Down this road Spring after winter And the winter follows summer And the dawn comes down to darkness And the dawn comes down to day These seasons come and these seasons go But I love you more and more each day I swear our love will never die Never fade away Never fade away And I will run with you.
