Pop/ topical Venturing into rock Finally! A bar chord! I can only imagine how much my life changed when someone finally showed me those. By the way, despite the title, this song is one of my few songs that does not pay homage to Dylan.

Heidi Wolfson is a Philadelphia singer-songwriter. In her fourth decade of making music, Heidi is taking a slightly softer approach... but her music remains vocally interesting and the lyrics are definitely worth checking out. If you like Patti Smith, you will probably like Heidi. Have fun and thanks for listening.

Story behind the song
So here is the second song in the song pair that attempts to analyze gender roles. This song is sympathetic to the male, a rarity for me, at the time. I was probably seeing the "women's movement" as dramatic and sudden, and wondering how men were faring, in the wake of the changes. Looking back, the changes weren't dramatic or sudden. I was probably just reacting to how quickly the changes were happening inside of me.
Lyrics
JUST LIKE THE WOMAN (1978) Kapo on 2nd Fret Intro: E C Am E E C Am G Am G C E Is she just like the woman you took about before? The one who shut the door, and left you crying for more An independent sorceress of independent means No human failure and no human need C D G C D E Did daddy have to do this to win mommy's heart? Why has it become so hard? What is the reason it all fell apart? Why did we have to go this far? C D G She said that you should learn to bend You only want to love her, and maybe be her friend There, you said something wrong again Is there no pleasing her, can you never win? Am C E You wonder, will she ever let you in F C F D A Just like, just like the wo- J-J-J-just like, just like the wo- J-J-J-just like the woman you took about before Intro: E C Am E E C Am G Am G Am E Is she just like the woman who gave you birth? And ten years later, found out what she was worth Found out she could make money and left you at home Come home after school, with your key, all alone C D G C D E Lullabies had turned to kisses goodnight And no one took the time to tell you why The tear drops on your pillow case soon run dry And soon you learn that big boys never cry C D G Your woman said that somehow you were keeping her down The whole time you thought you were giving her a hand Your new one walks around with the same despondent frown C D E And you wonder, will the circle ever end? Am C E You wonder, will she ever let you in F C F D A Just like, just like the wo- J-J-just like, just like the wo- J-J-Jjust like the woman you took about before (Repeat) End on Intro: E C Am A

Thanks, Rob. I think I used to sing everything with more of a growl. I wish I could get it back. However, it's not something I can simulate. It was authentic, and it came from a whole bag of garbage that eventually got too heavy to carry around.

This one sounds different than how I remember it. It now has a more sympathetic delivery. Even though the words are the same, you used to sing this with a growl. I am not certain these are all the exact same chords you used in the band, but it still sounds good. Nice melody. Never really heard all the lyrics until now. Some great lines.
