Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
I wrote the lyric behind "These Are The Days" in July 0f 2008. It was a pleasant Summer evening up on the mountain, the family was out taking the walk together, and we were having so much fun...I couldn't help but take out my Palm Pilot and start jotting down an occasional line here and there. Those lines very quickly took the shape of a lyric, my good friend musician/songwriter/producer Tony Atkinson (Ireland) took an instant liking to it, and the song that you see here had been fully produced just a month later in August of 2008. To this day, this song remains one of my personal favorites of all the productions that I've been involved with - and I'm very, very happy to share it here with you. These really are the days :-) Ray Bertram
Lyrics
These Are The Days Verse 1: Kids grow up And then their gone Friends stay a while And then they move on The wise man smiles He laughs an’ plays Because he knows These are the days Pre-Chorus: For every sunset fades We’ve only so many days Verse 2: A boy ‘n girl Settle down Raise some kids In some small town Poor as dirt But hard work pays And love runs rich These are the days Pre-Chorus: For every sunset fades We’ve only so many days Chorus: These are the days But they won’t last You’ll wonder how They went by so fast And when they’re gone Only memories stay So enjoy them now These are the days Bridge: A new day dawns But it never stays And then it’s gone Cherish in everyway These special days Pre-Chorus Chorus These Are The Days (c) 2008 W. Ray Bertram, Tony Atkinson Lyrics by W. Ray Bertram ? 2008 Music by Tony Atkinson ? 2008
