Every Now and Then
Her friends are tellin' her she's thinkin' too much
others say she's not thinkin' enough
they see the shadow of emotional drought walkin' right beside her...
every day
It all started several years ago
walkin' sidewalks for a dime
young girls passed her all of the time; she could hear them laughing...
every night
She knew all the friendly cops in town
they knew where she could be found
all they had to do was ask around...
everybody knew her...
Every now and then she scans along the orange horizon,
holding her breath in reverie.
All but the most unwilling eyes can see what she sees
every now and then.
Late night calls and a bottle of wine
and maybe a look if she has time
she loves the sounds that she hears in the night...
movin' right beside her
One day walkin' down on Harmony St.
two Goth girls dressed in black
gave her some money and a zodiac pendant for her necklace...
then they walked away
She leaned up against a nearby door
and yelled for them to "come on back!"
they simply turned around and waved goodbye...
they were going somewhere
Every now and then she scans along the orange horizon,
holding her breath in reverie.
All but the most unwilling eyes can see what she sees
every now and then.
