Heidi Wolfson is a Philadelphia singer-songwriter. In her fourth decade of making music, Heidi is taking a slightly softer approach... but her music remains vocally interesting and the lyrics are definitely worth checking out. If you like Patti Smith, you will probably like Heidi. Have fun and thanks for listening.

Story behind the song
Although this song was written in 1977, I still close shows with it. The violin solos at the end are totally kick-ass. Rob Lincoln is playing the same solos he played with Heidi and the Wolf. God bless him for remembering. Stick around for the ending. It delivers.
Lyrics
SHADOW (1977) I'm sitting here alone watching the sun come through the trees I'm sitting here alone and I know I'll always be alone In a flash, I thought I saw your face coming through the woods Though your not really there, I thought I saw your shadow in the distance Though your not really there, I thought I saw your shadow in the distance And though that was yesterday, I almost wish I had the sense to know resistance The flame upon the fire reminds me of your eyes Though you were lost and scared, I thought that you were wise, thought you were certain The flame upon the fire reminds me of my cries The sadness on your face let me know you realized that I was hurting The sadness on your face let me know you realized that I was hurting Though you never saw the silhouette or the tears that fell on this side of the curtain It's over The tears are over The tears have dried I can't get over How much older, am I It's over The flame has smoldered The flame has died And I am so, so glad That I can say, say, say These tears have dried It's over The fire's over The flame has dies
