Story behind the song
When I was young I would listen to music on my transistor radio with the earphone when I was supposed to be going to sleep. I remember hearing for the first time The Beatles,The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and all the artists from Motown. This is a tribute to them.
Lyrics
I remember when I was young, though it was long ago, Stayed up late in my bed, with a transistor radio, Everynight something new, can't believe what I found, Rock n roll, R & B, all those brand new sounds, We didn't have no stereo, Listening to the music on the midnight radio, This one fast, that one slow, Listening to the music on the midnight radio, In the darkness,I could not believe the things I heard, Hearing all the sweet music,Listening to every word, Grooving to the sound of the new styles the dj played, Felt like heaven coming through on the radio waves, This little box in my hand, picking up the tranmission, Coming through on the frequencys , so that I could listen, I heard all those brand new sounds, tried my best to sing along, Made me feel good, Made me feel like I belonged, We didn't have no stereo, Listening to the music on the midnight radio, This one fast, that one slow, Listening to the music on the midnight radio, Fond memories of way back then, seems like it was a dream, I couldn't wait to listen to, the ghost in the machine, Coming through on the wireless, through all that static, All those sounds coming through, sounding so dramatic, Brocasting love, brodcasting resistance, Brodcasting my feelings, from off in the distance, Made me feel there was a place, that I belonged, All I did was listen, to all those songs, We didn't have no stereo, Listening to the music on the midnight radio, This one fast, that one slow, Listening to the music on the midnight radio,
