Story behind the song
Rose madder is a kind of purple color like if blood was spilled on a blue silk sheet. I learned this in Stephen King's "Rose Madder" book about a woman who finally leaves her abusive husband when she finds a drop of her own blood on a their blue satin bed sheet and decides right then and there to run away before she is eventually killed. Great book on supernatural and fantasy realm.
