Heidi Wolfson is a Philadelphia singer-songwriter. In her fourth decade of making music, Heidi is taking a slightly softer approach... but her music remains vocally interesting and the lyrics are definitely worth checking out. If you like Patti Smith, you will probably like Heidi. Have fun and thanks for listening.

Story behind the song
I went to high school on the Penn Campus. In 1976, I walked by a house with a sign outside that read "WXPN Radio". I walked up, guitar in hand, and rang the bell. When a young man answered, I said "My name is Heidi. I write songs." He asked me to come in, sat me in a booth, and put a microphone in front of me. I played for about thirty minutes. He aired the show, three days later. This was the first song I played. I introduced the song by announcing, "This song is for my friend, Diane." Indeed, I wrote this song for Diane.
Lyrics
California Mind (1976) A G D A (Kapo-2) California mind You’re waiting for the sun to shine Well maybe it’s not shining here I’d love to set you free But you think too much like me Lets go have another beer D A D A D A G E We try our best to be who we are In a world of pointy edges and demands Nothing makes more sense than to hop into your car And drive without a map or a plan California mind it’s growing dimmer all the time Well maybe we just dreamed this trip We would pack our bags today But it looks too much like rain Sometimes I think we are not so hip You are a ray of light in my dim life I can’t imagine staying here without you We keep on dreaming and we might just leave tonight But your plans aren’t really for two California mind You’re waiting for the sun to shine Well maybe it’s not shining here I’d love to set you free But you think too much like me And then again there are always other years There are other years For sun to shine on you By then I hope it’s shining on me too
