Heidi Wolfson is a Philadelphia singer-songwriter. In her fourth decade of making music, Heidi is taking a slightly softer approach... but her music remains vocally interesting and the lyrics are definitely worth checking out. If you like Patti Smith, you will probably like Heidi. Have fun and thanks for listening.

Story behind the song
While working on this project, I had to dig out all the boxes of my old writing that I could drag out of my attic. Of course, I am only including the songs that I wrote down and saved, or I couldn't possibly remember them. I found this song on apiece of yellowed paper, at some point torn out of a spiral book. In red crayon across the top of the page were the words: "My version of the Dylan song".
Lyrics
I Want You 1976 (I found this in the original handwriting…. Scrawled across the top was “My version of a Bob Dylan song”. I remember it had complicated finger picking. I now play it in an open tuning (D-G-D-G-B-D) Picket fences block the green Highways make a breathless scene The world looks like a cartoon in its illusion But I’ve seen too many thoughts to know Whether our knowledge really grows The more we know, the more we face confusion I want you, I want you, I want you, so badly Rivers always fill right up Reminds me of my coffee cup Every time I’ve had enough, I’m waiting To think of you throughout the day And realize in a mourning way We have no choice or time for debating I want you, I want you, I want you, so badly Silver rings and flowered pins Crying hearts and scalding sins Are no part of today and its congestion But the silver ring will never rust And you’ll never lose my hand in trust And it won’t help to just give suggestions I want you, I want you, I want you, so badly Foggy days on subway trains Sunny days have turned to rain Blackened skies don’t show the pain of losing My feet keep stepping endlessly But the ground still shakes tremendously And worlds away still try to keep me using I want you, I want you, I want you so badly Fattened maids in too tight shoes still ring my ears with chatter Dripping tears and morning blues show me it don’t matter Hand that look so strong and still Face me now and send me chills They have a certain gentleness unexpected But I’ll never feel their touch again and I try not to remember when How much pain have tears and rain reflected?
