Dusk to Dawn was formed in 1991. Based in Germany, often described as Dark Wave, Synth Pop, Future Pop, Electronic Rock.
“Dark wave with futuristic sequences“, “sophisticated pop formation”, “dark male, non-raspy voice” these quotes seem like descriptions for contemporary future pop artists, but they were already written in the early 90’s about Dusk to Dawn. In 2012, they are back: For the first time in 16 years, the German electronica band has submitted new songs. They convince with modern, danceable tunes, though embracing the classical new wave song writing as well.
Since their foundation towards the end of 1991, Dusk to Dawn brought out a hybrid of catchy pop, dark wave and crisp electronic rock music. The latter is especially to be found within their first new single ‘Sole Survivor’, written by guitarist Andreas Kleinwächter. The already widely acclaimed track was consumed some thousand times as stream, video and download by now.
With its gothic rock elements, this release marks a significant contrast to the other two new titles: ‘Homecoming’ by synth pro Jörg Erren enfolds an appealing science fiction feeling with both its sounds and lyrics. ‘Exit’, finally, by Dusk to Dawn’s singer Achim Zolke, is aesthetical, melancholic synth pop with an impulsive beat, forming, along with ‘Sole Survivor’, another potential club hit.
Both Sole Survivor‘ and Homecoming‘ had been mastered by the Australian music producer Kim Lajoie, while the long-standing keyboardist and producer of Psyche, Remi Janotta, took up the mastering of ‘Exit’. For the newly published music video of ‘Homecoming’, sequences of the sci-fi movie ‘Assignment Outer Space’ (1960), which is public domain today, were used.
