A heart-wrenching tale about a good cat gone bad...
My slightly more polished songs are found here.
Story behind the song
Based on a character one of my favorite kids in the world made up: Sneaky the Cat.
Lyrics
Behind a dumpster in the slums of New York City
Where the fiercest of cats prowl
I am a mouse, my prize a scrap of cheese
There’s just one reason why
Day after day I risk my life
Back home I’ve got six hungry mouths to feed
I stop to scratch a flea
A wicked laugh
And the cheese is gone
Who are you? Who are you?
Who are you? Who are you?
Then from deepest, darkest night
A raspy voice cries out
Thundering from beyond
I am Sneaky the Cat
Behind a chain-link fence where I stand guard
Monsters tempt me with poisoned slabs of meat
Master, he don’t feed me much
Y’know it keeps me in line
One thing keeps me going day to day:
“Good Dog, Earl!” and a bone thrown my way
Master, he’s a good man
He does that from time to time
I bark and chase a thief
A wicked laugh
And the bone is gone
Who are you? Who are you?
Who are you? Who are you?
Then from deepest, darkest night
A raspy voice cries out
Thundering from beyond
I am Sneaky the Cat
He’s got a good heart deep down they say
Though he steals, he returns it right away
Leaving us to ask
The question Why?
Maybe it’s because…
He showed up in a box one Christmas Day
And how he came to love his Sweet Juliette
They packed up almost everything
But there’s one thing they’d forget…
Who are you? Who are you?
Who are you? Who are you?
Since then from deepest darkest night
His raspy voice cries out
Thundering from beyond
I am Sneaky the Cat
