Legacy (A tribute to my mom and dad)

My first attempt at a country-ish song. Just seemed appropriate for the subject matter. Nothing like a country song to tell a good story!

An eclectic collection of guitar-driven styles ranging from acoustic folk, to blues, to some rock.
The songs featured on this site are original compositions that I have recorded on Garage Band, exclusively. So the band consists of me on guitar and some bass parts, and my modified Apple Loops.

Story behind the song
After 52 years, mom & dad sold the family homestead. Really got me thinking about life & what's really important, plus just exactly what the true legacy my mom & dad have created.
Lyrics
V1: Plowin that ground, plantin those seeds Pickin up stones & pullin weeds Home-cooked meals, from home-grown food Givin thanks round the table, like a family should CH: Were talkin bout hard work, talkin bout thankfulness Reap the fruit of your labor, share with your neighbor, put away the rest Well, the treasures of earth, seem less precious to me Than a life well-lived..... this is your legacy V2:Well, Dad never worked a single day in his life Cause he loved what he did, & did what he loved Kept that truck, lookin spit-shine clean The engine hummin, like a new machine CH: Were talkin bout hard work, talkin bout honesty Lovin God & your wife, faithful for life, like you oughta be Well, the treasures of earth, seem less precious to me Than a life well-lived..... this is your legacy V3:Long talks in the kitchen, just me & mom bout love & life...... girls & God If the kitchen is the heart of the home Then mom is the Queen, when shes on her throne CH: Were talkin bout hard work, talkin bout sacrifice Selfless love, a stern, firm hand, & some sage advice Well, the treasures of earth, seem less precious to me Than a life well-lived..... BR:Fifty years & more have passed Now the time to move, has come at last The ties that bind us go beyond these walls Still hurts like hell, to let it go V4:Sittin on the front porch, countin Chevys & Fords Laughin at those crazy Reznor boys Come Saturday night, hear the engines roar Sunday dawns, hear the church bells ring CH: Were talkin bout small town, talkin bout community Walkin down the street, stop & talk to everyone you meet Well, my roots have grown more precious to me Its just who I am..... part of your legacy V5: Drove by the house, saw the yard unkept Brought a tear to my eye, & a touch of regret Thingsll never be quite the same again Time to say goodbye, to a good ole friend CH: Years of hard work, all comes down to this Yard sales, auctions, packin up boxes of memories But theres more to life, than what we see Its a life well-lived..... this is your legacy End:Sittin on the front porch, countin Chevys & Fords...........
