Story behind the song
“OCCUPY WALL STREET—WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?”
“Occupy Wall Street—what’s it all about?” demands Agron Belica in his latest song Spirit of the 99. He then proceeds to answer his question in his most hard-hitting formulation yet, in lyrics by Belica and Ervis Topalli, of his on-going critique of life and injustice in the American Empire at home and abroad.
As the United States slips back to the socio-economic conditions of the 19th century—our democracy being converted to a plutocracy in the process—Belica celebrates the usually unheard voices of the 99 percent. They are virtually unrepresented in the government, media, and politics of the establishment, which contrives to facilitate the accelerating concentration of big money and big power in the hands of the few—the one percent.
True, there are still “free” elections, but few candidates can succeed without the resources and approval of their corporate or lobbyist puppet-masters, so in most cases, we are given a choice among pre-approved and vetted candidates; we can vote for whoever has the best patter or has the best smile.
Much of America has been too busy struggling to survive to protest their dilemma. Fortunately, there are activists such as Ken O’Keefe, Gilad Atzmon, and Tim King and the staff of Salem-News. com, who are working to educate the public about the untruth, injustice, and wars that sustain the status quo.
Truth, Justice, and Peace are on the line and Agron Belica’s Spirit of the 99 is its anthem.
The team who produced this important song are to be congratulated: The producers Ryan Manning (a.k.a. Ryan PM) and Patrick Dreier for their first-class musical production at Encore Music Academy, and the vocals by Agron Belica and Ervis Topalli, with Patrick Dreier on the chorus who also performs a spectacular solo on the electric guitar. Well done!

Lyrics
Occupy Wall Street—what’s it all about?
The one percent hell bent is what we’re all screamin’ out!
People of all races: straight faces, different cases!
Tent city, it ain’t pretty, but it’s time to make changes!
Minimum wages, no money, no raises!
Politicians and the bankers with double-tongue phrases;
People heated through the nation filled with devastation,
Bashin’ corporations for their greed and evil inclination!
It’s a celebration revolution in our nation!
Don’t be mistaken, mainstream media manipulation!
Political tricks, bank pimps, freakin’ pricks!
Mind games, big names, all in for the fix!
Hooverville times! No jobs, great depression!
People losin’ homes; history repeated! Learn a lesson!
Flag raised stars down; nation in distress!
Economic crisis! The whole world’s in a mess!
Chorus: SPIRIT OF THE 99 Patrick Dreier/Agron Belica
Lack of opportunity in the land of opportunity!
My pride’s on the line ’cause I can’t feed the family.
Government bailouts for the corporate s.o.b's,
While people homeless, stressed out, no j.o.b’s!
Birth of the great depression 1929—
Flash black, 2k11; singin’ the same line!
Pissed cause a’ this and my patience here tested—
Governments and corporations for the people, nothing vested!
Wall street rings the bell; the only ones eatin’!
While people in the streets protest an’ catch a beatin’!
Tax breaks and bonuses for the one percent;
Rest of us have to skip meals just to make the rent!
History repeated and the market left untreated;
Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness here defeated!
Outraged, I’m furious with current situations,
While government submits to Wall Street corporations!
Chorus: SPIRIT OF THE 99 Patrick Dreier/Agron Belica
