This is a big band swing chart that tells the story of the first girl who ever stole my heart.
A unique blend of jazz, neoclassicism, expressionism and Spirit.
When God gives you a gift you have two choices: Use it for your own glory or share it for His glory. The latter is better.
Story behind the song
It would be Phyllis' sixteenth birthday. I was in Denver, she in Los Angeles. How do you do something special for the girl you love from over a thousand miles away? Well, first you need some manuscript paper. Then you need to find a jazz band, say at University of Denver.
Lyrics
Phyllis, brighten my world with your smile that shines
Sparkling stars in the sky are your eyes at night
Phyllis, mem'ries of you that have swelled my soul touch me filled up my heart and have made me whole
Since the day you came into my life, never have I lost the warmth inside and now I know the love I feel is right
Phyllis, bells in my mind with so sweet a chime are ringing
I've waited, and for once in my life I am satisfied --and just in time
When you came into my life
I found my heart when you came into my life
And now you're here with me and we're dancing the night away
Stay here with me, Philly
Dancing the night away
Just you and me and we're dancing the night away
Will you stay with me baby, darling
(interlude with muted trumpet solo)
Since the day you came into my life, never have I lost the warmth inside and now I know the love I feel is right
Phyllis, Phyllis, Phyllis, oh Phyllis, oh, oh
La la la, la la la . . .
