Born January 16, 1981 under the astrological sign of Capricorn, Lawrence Carter was given the rap name "Midas" by his sister. The name "Midas" originated from the childhood story of "King Midas" whose touch turned objects golden. Hence, "Midas the Great". Midas is regarded as one of the hottest up and coming artist out of the city of Richmond. Midas, as a youth, traveled often before finally settling in Virginia with his mother and two siblings. It was there when Midas' first influence, his younger brother Troy, began writing. Impressed with Troy's talent level propelled Midas to write. Midas has several musical influences, such as Outkast, UGK, Nas, Wu Tang, Tupac and Biggie, but Troy is his biggest!
