Nothing quite as personally honest as SOMA has occurred in central Ohio based music in recent memory. Mixing painfully earnest vocal arrangements with an eclectic blend of spiritual melody and reticent rhythm, the gentlemen in SOMA have been wooing audiences and critics alike for over three years now. Vocalist John Black’s introspective lyrics captivate audiences with the sincerity and intensity in which they are presented. The energetic musical styling screams its melody from the fingers of Brian Hughes and Justin Roth , sometimes with two guitars in harmony, other times with an ethereal refrain integrated into the mix via a synthesizer. The heartbeat of this group lies with James Trecazzi on drums and Matt Wilson on bass. The two accentuate each other concurrently while bringing to life each note and line of music. In the short time SOMA has been together, they have completed five CD's worth of material and toured extensively in the Midwest, playing with many National Acts including a spot on the Warped Tour. These experiences have proven invaluable for SOMA is preparing to expand their market to a wider regional base.
