Story behind the song
Somebody challenged me to write a song about a girl on a train!
Lyrics
Standing on the platform in the pouring rain, That almost hides her teardrops as she cries again She knows that she is leaving, what was all her joy in living, far behind. But something's calling to her in the howling gale Saying "Leave him, leave him now before it all goes stale" Just a notion that he gave her, what she does'nt know can't hurt and never will. Train pulls in, she boards it without looking back Light is fading, like the future it is turning black, But she tells herself she'll make it, whatever happens she can take it anyhow. Darkness makes a mirror of the windowpane She looks and sees a shadow somewhere in the train She thinks "That cannot be me, and if only he could see me he would change his mind. The gently rocking motion makes her close her eyes Sleep just comes with nightmares of deceit and lies, She feels there's no escaping from the cold dark hole that's gaping deep and wide. She stops herself from falling in the waiting void Knowing if she does she'll never make it out So now she starts to brace up by tidying her hair up and drying her eyes. Now she's reached her destination right on time She is forcing all unpleasant thoughts out of her mind, If she can only start forgetting for there is no sense in letting things get her down. As she tries to lift her heavy suitcase from the train, Someone does it for her and she smiles again For he takes her hand and leads her out into the street, And he looks into her eyes just like when lovers meet.
