Acoustic Song with Odd Harmonic Changes and a cool electric solo

Just another space-metal goth-punk electro-folk industrial gospel rock opera
Pray is S. DeGennaro. S. DeGennaro is Pray. Conceptually, it is heavily influenced by Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Marilyn Manson's "Antichrist Superstar", and Queen's early albums, with a fair degree of thematic continuity and little to no space between songs. Musically, it draws from a staggering variety of styles (see influences below).

Story behind the song
This is the first--and more mild mannered--half of a song about getting one's heart torn mercilessly from one's chest. This started out as a demo version to give to Paul to play in BushLeague (my old band) but, thanks to ProTools, was recorded well enough to include on the album. You probably don't really care, but the acoustic guitar, drums, bass, and the first verse vocals were recorded some time in the Fall of 2002 at Paul's old house. The rest of the vocals were recorded in April of 2003 while Paul and Krislyn were on their honeymoon, except for the "I'm left in the dust" harmony, which was done in my bedroom at Seneca some time later. The electric solo was direct into ProTools at my bedroom at French House in February of 2004. So from start to finish, this thing took over a year and a half to record in four different locations. Which is slightly less than the album average.
Lyrics
Once again, here we are On and on we go I can't take away your pain But I can take the blame Upon myself again Cause it's the only thing I know That drowns like alcohol Please myself, pleasing you Trying to hold on To make this feeling last A little longer I grow a little stronger From the poison I've been fed That made my senses dead And when you find a way To find out who you are Then you'll have the means To mend the pieces of your broken heart And when you wake up And you're whole again And I'm left in the dust Another tragic casualty of trust
