Story behind the song
The song was written in 1983. I was feeling alone and at times doubting my own salvation. One day In prayer I took the stand from the thief on the cross. "Lord please, Just remember me when you establish your kingdom."
I was somewhat a new Christian with little knowledge of the Bible at that time. The prayer and heart felt feelings inspired me to write "Remember Me".
I had no last verse and didn't know how to end it. In sleep I had a dream and could hear the song playing in my head. It was then when I heard the last verse come together giving me a loving Peaceful ending to "Remember Me." I can only thank the Lord for His reassurance of salvation.
Lyrics
Starts & Ends with first of The old ruggard cross.
On a hill far away......
This kingdom, you've spoken of
Yes, I know you will reign
So Please Lord Remember me
When this world knows no more shame
Just like the thief on the cross
He finally realized
He was guilty as he was charged
yet I know you set him free
So Please Lord Remember me
When your kingdom shall reign
So Please Lord Remember me
When this world knows no more Pain
solo:
These times I feel so alone
How I've longed to hear you say
You are a friend of mine
And one day you'll hear me say.
This kingdom, I've spoken of
yes, my kingdom does reign
And you'll be right here with me
when this world know no more shame
So I'll cherish that old ruggard cross
