If King Missile and Portishead had a baby at a Cure concert - that's us.
Mayhem Lettuce has been crafting sad, strange, sometimes silly, spoken-word songs from rural Illinois since 1993. We're two beardy dudes raised on King Missile with delusions of Portishead.

Story behind the song
Mayhem Lettuce had been on hiatus for nearly 8 years. We got together to write/record some new material at a mutual friend's house and her 8 year old boy insisted on helping us. This song was written while watching him leap around, pushing buttons on the 16-track and shouting into microphones.
Lyrics
123 Go! It's been six years and our various progeny have flooded this world, breaking promises and brightening the gloom. All my old vantage points have withered to naught And I have to find new heights to see from. Easier than it sounds, honestly. Easier each time, somehow. And now there are these mirrors showing various versions of us like time machines or portals to the past. And they reflect our beauty... and our mistakes... and our loves... and our insecurities. And it's trite to say they teach us. But they teach us. And there's nothing so fun And there's nothing so tragic And there's nothing so scary And there's nothing so magical And they lift us up so we can lift them up. And they can tear us down, depending on the weather inside the mirror... And outside. And there's nothing so fun And there's nothing so tragic And there's nothing so scary And there's nothing so magical And we scale these new walls And we teach you our songs And we aim you at the stars So you'll know which way to aim your own kids All they way up to the stars All the way up
