Story behind the song
This was inspired by a picture of children playing with butterflies, sent to me by a friend from Brazil working with the indians there.
Lyrics
G C Am Em I got a postcard in the mail the other day C G C G From a friend so far away C D G C Across the jungles and the rivers of Brazil G C D G Good to hear from my old friend May It pictured children on a summer day Butterflies surround them as they play Butterfly, borboleta, spread your wings and flutter by On gorgeous wings you fly away When I was young I chased butterflies at play They seemed so close but kept away Memories of childhood all come back to this Butterflies in a field on a summer day So throughout the world, wherever you might stray Think of what I'm trying to say We were all once those children, playing in the sun Butterflies around us as we play Come let the borboletas carry your memories away There's nothing more that I can say Butterfly, borboleta, spread your wings and flutter by On gorgeous wings you fly away Copyright © 2003, Brian J.
