One slow soulful number rendered on a couple of days work October 2011. This is a song I have never grown tired of listening; recorded during 1989, Sinead O'Connor's interpretation is just superb on this Prince composition.

Hello World!, I say WELCOME. I'm a 57 years old classic rock fan and musician. For the most part I only do covers of classic rock and folk songs but am known from slipping in an occasional ballad or instrumental here and there too.

Story behind the song
I've had the main parts done a while ago (10 years at least?) and just never got around at finishing it. Not until last week - as I write this - I begun to play with an old Casio keyboard and while browsing my midi files to test it with I saw this song's. The lead was not done so I begun to try and follow up with a melody... next thing I knew I was deeply involved with the song and could not do anything else but finish it. Melody added with a new drum track and here it is!
Lyrics
It's been seven hours and fifteen days Since you took your love away I go out every night and sleep all day Since you took your love away Since you been gone I can do whatever I want I can see whomever I choose I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant But nothing I said nothing can take away these blues `Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you It's been so lonely without you here Like a bird without a song Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling Tell me baby where did I go wrong I could put my arms around every boy I see But they'd only remind me of you I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me Guess what he told me He said girl u better try to have fun No matter what you'll do But he's a fool `Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you All the flowers that you planted, mama In the back yard All died when you went away I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard But I'm willing to give it another try Nothing compares Nothing compares to you Nothing compares Nothing compares to you Nothing compares Nothing compares to you
