LaZae is a singer/songwriter who holds nothing back in her music. It’s all about telling a story, the whole story, honest and truthfully. That’s why she has no problem painting herself as the “bad guy” in her song “The Antagonist” or as delusional and tortured in her song “Girl, Interrupted” off of her debut album, “Self Help EP” released in August 2011, which will be followed up by a full-length album due in 2012. With two nominations in the 21st Los Angeles Music Awards and already appearances at the 2011 Burbank International Film Festival and ITSA Film Festival, this is shaping up to be an exciting year for LaZae and her music. She grew up listening to classic musicals like Rogers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” and “Cinderella” which really began her love affair with creating a musical journey with her lyrics and melodies and that path continued and broadened years later with her love of Janis Joplin, Fiona Apple and Lauryn Hill. In a hippy home where organic and sustainable living was key, she’s also carried those ideals into her lyrics in such songs as “Muddy Hill” and “Women Scorned”. With LaZae’s music, you get a full spectrum of topics from love to saving the planet. And in her debut EP, the listener gets just that.

Lyrics
Verse 1 You have a Texas sized ego And you like whenever we go Round the town and boys are jealous Of the girl that’s on your arm But when they get too overzealous You suddenly don’t like my charms Can’t stand all of the attention You make ludicrous suggestions Like wear no makeup and a big shirt You say I look like I’m a big flirt No idea how much your words hurt You’re f*** ing with my self-worth Hook I’m not gonna dress it down You’re not gonna make me slum when you’re around I don’t need to be allowed To be myself and stand out from the crowd I’m not gonna dress it down I’m not gonna slum when you’re around If you’re not good with me now Well that’s tough cause I ain’t gonna dress it down Verse 2 You fell in love with me for me You liked my personality I’m fun to hang, make your friends laugh It’s good times ‘til you realize You’re popularity is half You’re not the center in there eyes Can’t stand all the attention You make ludicrous suggestions Don’t talk so much, be seen not heard ‘Cause when I talk I sound absurd No idea how much your words hurt You’re f*** ing with my self-worth Hook Bridge So what’s next? When I get my big break Will you be vexed? That I’m doing just great Cause I won’t be someone else No I won’t be someone else I can’t be someone else for you Hook
