Lyrics
Back in the day When we were young the big band sound came alive It had that swing, it had that thing It was 1945 the old timers remember when old blue eyes he was king but ole king cole, oh he could sing in 1945 Chorus: They just don't write those melodies like they did before the words were sweet in that old summer heat That's how it was before Imagine telling someone to sit in the back of the bus just because of his race But when the music would start, they all had the same face The music brought you to a different place Dean Martin was smooth Sammi could dance The rat pack was cool The stories they told when they were alive in 1945 Chorus Think of that time the trolley cars would ride down that ole 5th avenue you'd go for a ride didn't mattter where or why In 1945 Break Chorus: They just don't write those melodies like they did before They just don't have that old fashioned sound not anymore There's something about those old chord changes That we adore There's something about that old melody that They don't write anymore Some want to go back Where they all wore those hats During the war Tony Bennet and the gang they sang as their voices came through that old victrola Just don't write those melodies Like they did before Just don't have that old fashioned sound Not anymore Just don't have that old big band sound Not anymore Big old gang with that big brass sound Not anymore- no more- Not anymore Not anymore- not anymore

Great Song! I love it! I wasn't really alive in 1945 but it's nice to see young talent keep it alive!

Marvelous swing song. This flows so well...The nostalgic sound is all so sweet. Speaking of sweet, you vocals are terrific...Great timbre and excitement in your singing throughout. I really enjoyed listening to this big band sound with your impeccable voice...
