Story behind the song
On this day, 10.01.2011, a man who helped shape my life completed the final chapter of his own. He was not only a man of character, he was a character. He was strong willed and fiercely devoted to the causes in which he believed. He was a God fearing American patriot who served his country, his fellow man and his creator in his own colorful and honest way. Although flawed with humanity, to me, in many ways, he was bigger than life.
It has been said that the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. Uncle Kenneth, you sure measured up.
Today, I went into the studio and recorded this hymn in tribute to a man who cast a great shadow in my life. I hope you enjoy it and recall fond memories of those whom you’ve loved and have had to bid farewell until the great homecoming.
