Minnesota's Coeus the Boxing Titan offers a more unique take on the Prog Rock genre, roughly sounding like Pink Floyd playing Noise Rock after being stabbed in
Minnesota's Coeus the Boxing Titan is a musical deity that descended from the clouds back in 2008, as a way for sole member and songwriter Aro to vent pent-up emotion and punch holes in the fabric of modern rock. Combining his own takes on several genres, Coeus takes enormous influence from progressive, psychadelic, and industrial rock; artists like John Frusciante, Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Primus, Beck, Mike Patton, and King Crimson. There are many undercurrents that help make the style distinct; downtempo and hip-hop music were a huge inspiration, as well as funk, noise rock and electronica. With nothing but cheap instruments and a PC, Coeus music is written with a heavy emphasis on the atmosphere and production of each song. The lyrics are stitched together from the chaos of the human mind, dealing with subjects like introspection, sanity, relationships, and heartache.

Lyrics
-verse1- the more I kept staring through your swollen eyes helped me remember what we should keep in mind that we tried this sober but we both wasted time only when we're plastered do we forget the knives I'm watching rising tides drenched in rain and wet sand too far from our shelter with all we're better than surges towards those three words tornadoes break the sky as that sandcastle fell we'd never say goodbye shoulder to shoulder showered in this mist but why hold you closer? I blame you for all this -chorus- builds up slow throughout my brain it hits like a hurricane a cyclone in pouring rain it hits like a hurricane -verse2- solidified visage statues of ruin's youth each blast of crashing tears could've caved in our roof fate twists us in circles we spoke these words in floods I heard you slowly waver stream of thoughts would build up and though we could both give find that path back to shore or drown ourselves in fate go swim in more torture against the sea, wind, waves trees, earth, and universe against pleas, tears, anger sifting through written verse when all we knew is no we'll ignore the past tense here I've described true love losing any real sense a drop in calm oceans now watch this rocking rain sweep us up off our feet like love was a hurricane and my greatest fear ain't losing my mind it's each thought itself not quite being mine -chorus- builds up slow throughout my brain it hits like a hurricane a cyclone in pouring rain it hits like a hurricane builds up slow throughout my brain it hits like a hurricane a cyclone in pouring rain it hits like a hurricane -verse3- a storm metaphor us and what's in store not like I'd hoped for life pulled us from shore been so long out here pushed apart moments where had we lost sight wished this was different remember the movement mountains waves had washed away like gods we'd stride the skies currents blur yesterday -outro- just ignore it and let it pass be memory watch it through glass you don't need it if it needs you you're it's sustenance don't let it use you
