My Cross To Bear
I was born from a bad seed
Cold blood ran through my leaves
I've seen the fear of many a men
Hang on to life from my guilty limbs
My strong arms tugged on a rope
And tighten deaths grip around their throat
I watched life jump out of their chest
And blue lips breathe a dying breath
Then I looked into a dark and empty stare
Because this was my cross to bear
My cross to bear
I grew weak as long years grew
Winters chill choked my roots
A cold axe cut out my dry heart
Then I was dragged to a cruel graveyard
I never slept but I would dream
One day I'd stand in the cool breeze
But wind and rain wore out my soul
I laid froze in that sink hole
Hungry worms were all the warmth I would ever wear
Because this was my cross to bear
My cross to bear
Then one day my body was drug
By a king drenched in blood
When they nailed him on my back
His heart beat through my rotten cracks
I felt his life kill my pain
His spirit rise through my veins
When he died in my wretched arms
He made me whole and healed my scars
Now I can breathe the light of heavens air
Because this was my cross to bear
My cross to bear
My cross to bear
My cross to bear
My cross to bear
My cross to bear
