Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Cottonwood Tree Copyright by: Verne Garrison Valley Park, Mo August 9, 2001 Banjo tuned E, Capo 1, Key of: D Chorus: A midwestern beauty, the Cottonwood tree Fissured bark, a favorite one to me Much like Colorado's Quaking Aspen All you gotta do is take the time to see It lives along all of the midwestern streams Cover for the Lone Ranger and Tonto In my youthful boyhood dreams Always ever with me it seems A towering sentinel in a few short years Broad leaves shining in the mid-day sun Flashing gold, then glabrous green Then hanging silently when the day is done Tag: A midwestern beauty, the Cottonwood tree Fissured bark, a favorite one to me Much like Colorado's Quaking Aspen All you gotta do is take the time to see

Hey Verne! I can't believe some cities are cutting down those beautiful trees for the sake of a clean swimming pool. They do seem like a aspen which I remember well while living ion Colorado. They are mighty and beautiful! Your knowledge of a forester mixes well with your musical and lyrical talent. Love It!! Hope all is well for you, Jamey
