Greetings Everyone, Merry Meet, and How's it goin'? You've now entered what I like to call: Those of you that know me personally, know that I'm definitely NOT your 'normal' average everyday chick. There are many facets to me as there are stars and galaxies in the universe. Grab a drink, smoke 'em if ya got 'em, and enjoy your stay. My realm is your realm. When you're a friend you're family. Welcome "home"...

Story behind the song
This was recently written on her trip w/ the No Brainers to York, PA on 11/14/03. It's what happens when you're a musician sitting in a cold hotel room with nothing better to do than smoke nicstics, drink Pepsi, watch VH1 80's shows, MTV featuring 'Tallica and AC/DC, and Music Choice's Bowie concert. It's being by yourself thinking about someone that does the same exact thing you do, only miles away. Then realizing that when they're in your heart and mind, they aren't far away at all. Ya grab the acoustic, knock out a simple chord progression that sounds oddly "Darius Michaels". Simple, to the point, and the lyrics just fit the entire scene. It has A LOT to do with a key phrase for when you're on the road and that person's not there physically, but you know they're always with you. This out of all of them means the most to me for very personal reasons. Without going into details, I can tell you this is one of the most magickal of any song I've ever written and composed. I do believe we were able to get away from the "Darius Michaels" sound. The best thing about this song, is that it not only fits a musician on tour far away from that "special someone." It fits ANYONE that has to be away for an extended period of time, perhaps on duty or a business trip. It's one of those types of songs that can pretty much fit just about anyone. However, certain elements are strictly type specific. Commander, thank you for ALWAYS being DEAD CENTER. "Gritty's going to be famous!"
Lyrics
Sitting alone in a cold hearted hotel room Southern winds blow across my heart 80's on the T.V. Cellphone doesn't phase me Soda and nicotine to ease the pain Rock's great, but not this part When there's a hole the size of space- enveloping your heart You'd think that solitude would be a pleasure... Instead the TV tunes create a Mortal Measure Powerballads take me to a place I wish I could run to... Yet instead, I want to run straight to you... Different night, different city... Missin you, Missin Gritty..... "I don't want to miss a thing" Baby you're "Dead Center", But not here I check the messages And then I shed a tear Transendance through time and space I close my eyes, I see your face I feel ok, I feel whole again No longer sorrow, no longer pain Alone at night, the darkness blinding Though no sight, the emotions binding To you I call - Can you hear me? Can you sense me? Can you feel me? A heartfelt call across the night's breeze A nightsong howled amongst the trees The moonlight's shadows start taking form Oh, how I long once again to feel the norm I close my eyes, I see you sleep I open my ears, I hear you breathe I reach out my hand, I feel you near I open my mind, and you are here... I love this life It's who we are.... But time apart creates a big scar To know I'm here, and you're there... I still can feel you're not that far... Hear me, feel me, sense me Know nomatter where I am I'm there in your arms, "Dead Center"

This has a pleasant strummy singalong feel. I like the actual sound of the guitar...is it processed with chorus with a touch of flanging? Whatever, it's a nice sound. The lyrics are spot on, even though I've never been on a tour...we only used to just play local(ish) one night gigs. Great.
