I Surrender All (C)All to (F)Je(C)sus (G7)I surrender (C)All to (F)Him (C)I (G7)freely (C)give; (C)I will (F)e(C)ver (G7)love and trust Him, (C)In his (F)pre(C)sence (G7)daily (C)live. (C)I surrender (G7)all, I surrender (C)all; (C)All to (F)thee, (C)my blessed F)Savior, (C)I surren(G7)der (C)all. All to Jesus I surrender, Humbly at His feet I bow, Worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me Jesus, take me now. I surrender all, I surrender all; All to thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all. - Words by Judson W. Van DeVenter, 1896 - Music by Winfield S. Weeden, 1896 Van DeVenter wrote this song in East Palestine, Ohio, in the home of George Sebring (later the developer of the town of Sebring, Florida). At the time, Judson was undecided about whether to continue his career in art or going into full-time evangelistic work. After writing this song, he decided to become an evangelist and was notably successful in that field. While Weeden published a number of books of religious music, this may have been his favorite, it's title was on his tombstone.
