The Splatterpunks were formed in 1989 by Boris Randall with a mission to bring horror rock to small-town Ohio. After recruiting local ghouls Rawb(bass), Oz(guitar), and Igor(drums), they played a handful of gigs opening for the areas top ranking bands such as Killjoy and Ide's March. The band went into the studio in March of 1989 and recorded their debut indy release, "Rat-Boy." In 1990, Boris made a change in the line up. Amon(guitar), Johnny Coffin(bass), and Mikel(drums), were now the new Splatterpunks. They landed a few gigs but played mostly on their own by "making" their own events to play. By this time, The Splatterpunks were starting to gain a local cult status. They recorded their second release in August of 1990 which was titled "It's Only Murder." From 1991-1995 The band continued to play and release only live material. It wasn't until 1996, with new members, that The Splattepunks released their third album titled "The Devil's Empyrean." Amon(guitar), Chud(drums), and Bo(bass) were backing Boris now. January 1996 saw the reemergence of the cult following with this release, only now bigger. The band continued to play and simultaneously record what became their biggest undertaking yet. "The Demonology" was The Splatterpunks anthology. It was only released on two cassettes and carried 72 songs spanning the entire career of the band from 1989 until 1997. All songs from previous releases we re-recorded and unreleased material, some live, and rare songs were included. Also packaged with it was a 28 page booklet containing the band's history, artwork, and lyrics to all songs. The Splatterpunks played their final show on Halloween 1999.
