lets just pretend (cool edit recording)
same chord progression, different hardware. using a m-audio interface into the computer instead of an analog 4-track.
Demos and experiments from bedroom and basement, mainly recorded between 2005-2007.
Story behind the song
I wanted to re-record Let's Just Pretend and try to do it "better," or cleaner. The guitar tone is certainly more "processed" sounding here, although I'm not sure that's better. The rhythm in the original is nice and chunky and raw, which I think serves the riff well. What I really wanted was a lead tone that wasn't as harsh sounding.
Ran into some snags with latency and monitoring (I couldn't hear the track I laid down when trying to play lead, so I didn't record one), which is bollocks.
I will say that I love how easy the pinch harmonics flew off on this take. It's all one guitar, too.
