Story behind the song
She is a tortured girl who hates who she is and feels she is so damaged by her past that she is doomed to hell...and she feels everyone she's touches is doomed as well.
Her ego is a mask she wears...to get her thru and she makes bad choises, without regret...living without remorse....until -
Love comes along and saves her soul....reaches into the depths of her damnation and pulls her from the pits of hell
And although this love feels good, she feels undeserving, and like her lover will be dragged down with her the longer he holds her captive in his love....she wishes that on no one...especially one who has dared to love her
She sees hope in the love...and hope for salvation thru it...but the devil (her feelings of deep damage and self loathing) calls to her, it comforts her in its familiarity...and so she begs to be released from love to return to the private hell she has created for herself.
