Story behind the song
Trying to get back to the basics of harmony vocals and good content rather than hooks I layed this out in an evening and after a few live rehersals in my yard decided it was worth recording. Hope you enjoy it.
Lyrics
She keeps a dream box under her bed And every night for fourteen years She’s waited patiently for a love She’s been alone with just her tears There’s never been one boy to call There’s never been one kiss at all She’s never complained about her life It’s just routine, it cuts in like a knife. And everyday she knows that somewhere Out there love is growing closer to her, closer to her Love is getting closer everyday….. (Guitar Solo) He walks from home to work each day He passes by her house along the way He thinks that she’s the cats meow But he’s too shy to tell her now There isn’t a moment he isn’t thinking bout the smile upon her face He says hello, she blushes pink He doesn’t know what she will think He asks the question that is burning in his hearts desire Quench that fire, pull her closer Never let her sweetness get away….. They’ve got a dream box under their bed And every day for 20 years She takes the pictures of their kids And holds them up to wipe her tears There’s never been a love that wasn’t this, wasn’t worth the wait… ( Repeat last verse )
