Running Order Jazz Quintet are, Ray Johnson; Trumpet, Flugelhorn & Vocals Chris Farrow; Tenor Sax Paul Carrol; Keyboard Hazel Hanley; Bass Rob Nelson; Drums Ray Johnson Ray's early musical career as a yodeller was tragically cut short by a recurring chaffing problem caused by his lederhosen. Since then he has taken to playing brass instruments and wearing cotton trousers. Ray lives in Hexham the lower east side. Chris Farrow n [fa-rer] Chris also lives in Hexham and by day is a painter and decorator. He plays his sax with great emulsion and can certainly put a gloss on those solos. Paul Carrol Paul is the newest member of the band. A highly accomplished piano and keyboard player who has played for many years. Paul is greatly valued as a band member which has nothing whatever to do with the fact that he owns a P.A. System. (Honest) Hazel Hanley Hazel is a busy working mother of four. She selected the double bass as her instrument so that she had something to lean on while she slept between numbers and, when times are bad, between notes. She lives at Alston and does “Health Visiting” which she refers to as work. Rob Nelson Rob lives at Cowshill, a region of the moon. He is a furniture maker by trade and made his first set of drums from an old nest of tables. His ambition is to one day play a musical instrument rather than just hanging about with musicians.
