Shiftin' gears passed another speed limit sign
Small block 400 hittin' right on time
Two lane road twenty miles south of town
Got the radio up and the windows rolled down
Got rhythm don't need no reason or rhyme
Got tired sittin' round lost in yesterday
Packed up left town man I had to get away
My final destination I don't really know
Away from that town is where I gotta go
Right or wrong I'm gone nothin' left to say
All the pain I leave it all behind me
And the trouble it stays right there
They may look but they’re never gonna find me
I’ll be drivin’ through the night somewhere
Sun settin’ as I cross the Mississippi line
Cotton fields, Big Muddy man it sure looks fine
I shoulda hit the road a long time ago
100 miles behind 1000 more to go
When I get there I’m gonna drink a toast to time
All the world it’s out there in front of me
I’ll take what comes leave the rest behind
Don’t know what’s comin’ but I know I’m not gonna be
Lookin’ for something that I’ll never find…
