Story behind the song
"Death of Common sense" was written as an attack on organized religion. That's my take on it. Brent wrote the words for this one, and he has some pretty interesting theories about religion, Christianity in particular and alot of his words are focused on that. I wrote a few lines in the song and the ones that I wrote were coming from more of a "Think for yourself" or "Don't let anyone else tell you how to live" standpoint. I didn't really want to throw myself into Brent's world of 'anti' religion, so I decided to take a more straight forward approach..."Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail..." - R.W.Emerson
Lyrics
Civillity thrown out the window a spiral to non-understanding irrationality pervades as common sense is pushed away Dead hand's cold grip on life smokescreen blinding to all The global myth of harmony encouraging hypocrisy lie to us and make us believe it lie to us and make us receive it Dead hand's cold grip on life smokescreen blinding to all One mind misdirected subterfuge required headlong into confusion Society's misled Whitewash invited slavery programmable belief in choice to look the other way Desensitize, sterilize make up minds, prostelitize misdirection, key to illusion desensitize, key to confusion wake up, wake up now One mind misdirected subterfuge required headlong into confusion Society's misled Whitewash invited slavery programmable belief in choice to look the other way
