Story behind the song
This song was written for a friend who runs a dog rescue. My friend has seen more of the darker side of rescue than most. But it is also for all my rescue colleagues. For when we just haven't got the room or the money to save another life, and we have to walk away from a dog that we know will be killed, we are full of rage and despair at the injustice and our hearts break with every step.
Lyrics
Blood on your hands You're gonna make a new start Sit in the dark Forget all your plans Sin in your eyes Better say your goodbyes Cos nobody knows Nobody knows this time Where are your friends Where does it end They just criticize over and over So you're closing the door Lay your clothes on the floor Cos nobody cares nobody cares anymore And I thought that you were leaving It's getting hard believing you could ever lay your cross outside Your heart's no longer feeling But you can't stop the bleeding From the lives you had to hide This time This time
